Meet Sydney
Sydney is a highly experienced and dedicated instructor, deeply attuned to the nuances of physical pain and trauma, and dedicated to helping individuals achieve their fitness goals. Her Pilates journey began in the early 2000s, sparked by her recovery from radiation therapy. Since then, she has harnessed the transformative power of Pilates to aid in her own rehabilitation from a motor vehicle accident, shoulder dislocation, bilateral adductor tears, and foot and leg surgery.
With over 19 years of expertise, Sydney has attained dual certification in Stott Pilates and Balanced Body Pilates, setting her apart in the field. Sydney is a Nationally Certified Pilates teacher. She trained under master instructor Jaqueline Martin, a protégé of Jay Grimes, who learned directly from Joseph Pilates himself. This comprehensive training is a testament to Sydney's unwavering commitment to excellence and her passion for delivering the best possible experience to her clients. Currently, she serves as an assistant educator for Balanced Body® Pilates training programs in Victoria, BC, further solidifying her influence in the Pilates community.
Sydney's dedication to professional development is evident in her extensive array of additional certifications, including Booty Barre, Pilates for Scoliosis, Pilates for Breast Cancer, Zenga Flow Pilates, Chronic Pain Yoga, Cardio Tramp for Pilates, Athletic Pilates, Advanced Pilates Principles of the Shoulder, and Advanced Pilates Principles for Lower Back Pain. As a certified 500 RYT yoga instructor, she brings a holistic approach to her practice.
Having worked with clients of all abilities—from professional athletes to those with ICBC and WCB claims—Sydney creates an inclusive environment that welcomes everyone. Sydney is committed to trauma awareness and creates a safe, non-judgmental space for clients from all backgrounds. Her extensive experience as an addictions counselor with Vancouver Island Health, as a physiotherapy assistant, and her work with chronic pain with Pain BC allow her to navigate sensitive issues, fostering trust and connection. She embraces inclusivity and acceptance, welcoming individuals of all abilities.
